Thanks to a generous private donation and the utilisation of the charitable reserves, Aberglasney Restoration Trust has been able to acquire the land and derelict buildings in the northwest corner of the estate.
This area of the former Aberglasney Estate was known as the "Piggeries" and features extremely derelict old buildings formerly used as Pig Sties as the name suggests.
The Piggeries are extremely over grown with Japanese knotweed amongst other well-known weeds and will take a fair amount of time and effort to control and contain. The structures are in a very bad state of repair and currently work is being undertaken by Abergalsney's Stone Mason to safe guard the structures from further damage by the elements or the vegetation.
No firm plans have been made by the Board of Trustees as to the future use of this part of the estate, but it is great that it has been returned to the ownership of Aberglasney.
