Art in the Mansion ~ Duncan Macdonald Johnson
May 5 - May 17
Talented and widely collected landscape artist Duncan Macdonald Johnson returns to Aberglasney for the first time since 2006.
Speaking whilst making final preparations for his two-week exhibition, he talked about how pleased he was to be returning to Aberglasney: “The Mansion House is a fine and generous space in which to exhibit my work.”
The exhibition, titled ‘Through the Seasons’ is a collection of paintings that captures the huge variation in the landscapes of Carmarthenshire. Duncan explains: “Since returning to live in Wales in 2005, I am never without a location to paint, I also have the sense that there is still so much left to see. Working outside throughout the seasons paintings hills, cliffs, and watercourses I pay special attention to the geology, flora, fauna and architecture around me. These are the things that make up the main body of this exhibition.”
He went on to say: “Alongside paintings of Carmarthenshire, you will also find some from further west as well as the Ardnamurchan Peninsular in Scotland and some still life images produced when the weather has got the better of even me!”
