Art in the Mansion ~ David Cowdry
March 31 - April 6
Renowned Welsh artist David Cowdry returns to Aberglasney with an exhibition of more than 50 new pieces of work.
His latest collection is an eclectic mix of landscapes and wildlife which capture the beauty of rural west Wales unlike the paintings of any other artist.
Having arrived in Wales in 1992 to study wildlife illustration David never returned home to Kent and he now lives just outside the beautiful market town of Llandeilo with his wife.
Speaking ahead of his exhibition at Aberglasney which opens on Friday March 31st he said: “The inspiration for my paintings come from a deep love of the natural world, from the picturesque gentle landscape of the Towy Valley and the wild rugged coast of West Wales. I always try to capture light & atmosphere or a moment in time.”
He went on to say: “I often work from photos, sketches or notes but sometimes just from memory. I also paint intuitively.”
The underwater world is another of David’s passions and his ability to capture this magical world on canvas is one of his great talents.
